Job summary

GRAEF is seeking a Director of Civil Engineering to provide firmwide leadership for our Civil Engineering Technical Community. Reporting to the Chief Technical Officer, this role drives technical excellence, quality, collaboration across offices, and the development of the next generation of civil engineering leaders.

You will remain engaged in project work, lead technical standards, mentor staff, and partner with firm leadership on strategy, recruiting, and client pursuits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Minimum of 12 years of civil engineering experience.
• Demonstrated technical and leadership experience.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills.
• Passion for technical excellence, quality, and staff development.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and implementation of firmwide technical standards and best practices across Civil Engineering.
• Promote collaboration across offices and connect projects with the right expertise.
• Develop and mentor staff, onboarding and succession planning within the Civil Engineering community.
• Partner with firm leadership on technical strategy, innovation, recruiting, and business development.
• Remain actively engaged in project work through leadership, design, and risk management.
