Job summary

iCare Health Network is seeking a Director of Census Development to lead census growth across our care centers and manage admissions alignment with profitability goals.

The role requires strategic collaboration with Operations and Clinical leadership, relationship-building with hospitals and referral sources, and oversight of central admissions and specialty programming initiatives. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, or healthcare setting preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Experience using Word, Excel, and EMR systems.
  • PointClickCare experience preferred.
  • English proficiency required (reading, writing, and speaking).

  • Collaborate with facility leadership to support occupancy goals and drive census performance.

  • Analyze census trends, market data, and operational metrics to support financial performance.
  • Build and maintain relationships with hospitals, referral sources, and community stakeholders.
  • Serve as liaison between facilities, corporate leadership, and external partners to support admissions and growth.
  • Represent the organization in meetings, presentations, and industry events.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to business development and facility-based teams.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and alignment across multiple nursing home operations.
  • Ensure clear communication across facilities, leadership, and external stakeholders.
  • Deliver presentations and updates on census performance and business development initiatives.
  • Foster collaboration between clinical, operational, and marketing teams to support growth objectives.
  • Oversee Central Admissions department and advisory regarding specialty program admissions.

iCare Health Network is seeking a Director of Census Development. This position is responsible for leading the strategy for census growth in the care centers and day-to-day admissions needs to maximize professional relationships and referrals.This position is responsible for collaborating with Operations and Clinical leadership to plan and grow census and profitability.

Responsibilities:

Census Growth & Business Development Strategy

  • Develop and implement census growth strategies across multiple nursing facilities within the long-termcare network

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, referral sources, and market expansion initiative

  • Collaborate with facility leadership to support occupancy goals and drive consistent census performance

Financial & Operational Performance

  • Coordinate with the financial team to assure admission policy and procedures are updated and align with organizational goals.

  • Support financial performance by analyzing census trends, market data, and operational metrics

  • Align business development initiatives with organizational financial goals and operational priorities

  • Monitor performance indicators to identify risks, opportunities, and areas for improvement

Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with hospitals, referral sources, healthcare partners, and community stakeholders

  • Serve as a key liaison between facilities, corporate leadership, and external partners to support admissions and growth initiatives

  • Represent the organization in meetings, presentations, and community or industry events

Leadership & Workforce Management

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to business development and facility-based teams

  • Promote team building, accountability, and alignment across multiple nursing home operations

  • Support workforce planning efforts to ensure effective execution of business development strategies

Communication & Organizational Collaboration

  • Ensure clear and consistent communication across facilities, corporate leadership, and external stakeholders

  • Deliver presentations, reports, and updates on census performance and business development initiatives

  • Foster collaboration between clinical, operational, and marketing teams to support growth objectives

Strategic Planning & Program Growth

  • Oversight of Director of Specialty Programming and Strategy

  • Collaborate with facility leadership to develop and execute strategic plans for specialty clinical programs

  • Support resident census growth through outreach, quality initiatives, and value-driven programming

  • Ensure programs remain competitive by utilizing industry benchmarks, peer models, and best practices

Admissions & Program Consultation

  • Oversight of Central Admissions department

  • Provide consultation regarding specialty program admissions, criteria, and resident appropriateness for placement
