Position Title: Director of Catering Sales

Reports To: Director of Dining Services

Salary: $60,000 to $70,000

Other Compensation: Commission

Job Summary

As the Director of Catering Sales at the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts, you will oversee all internal and external catering events. Your responsibilities include menu development, costing, marketing, labor and food cost control, event preparation, transportation, setup, operation, and cleanup. You will also handle Event Coordination and Sales Financials.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Hire, train, and develop managers; enhance service techniques, menu presentation, policies, and procedures.
  2. Prepare reports on operating statements and budgets; oversee receivables collection.
  3. Manage catering activities, including booking, planning, and directing functions.
  4. Create proposals, contracts, and banquet event orders.
  5. Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation procedures per HACCP standards.
  6. Maintain local client database; build and sustain vendor relationships.
  7. Perform related duties and special projects as assigned.
  8. Prepare and monitor budgets, financial targets, and forecasts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proven success in meeting sales goals.
  • Strong knowledge of current food industry trends and fine dining service points.
  • 5-8 years of hospitality industry experience, including 3 years in catering sales.
  • Supervisory, scheduling, training, and coaching skills.
  • Ability to assess client requirements and ensure satisfaction.
  • Capability to write menu proposals with chefs.
  • Supervision of food prep, service, and cleanup.
  • Knowledge of A/V equipment setup and breakdown.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and strategizing skills.
  • Leadership and organizational skills; adaptability; attention to detail.
  • Advanced computer skills, especially in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Proactive, calm under pressure, and capable of supporting business changes.
  • High standards of integrity and ethical behavior.
  • Exceptional client relations and customer service skills.
