Job Title: Director of Business Development

Location: United States (Remote or Hybrid Options Available)

NRL are keen to speak with Senior Business Development professionals for an exciting new opportunity with an emerging Contract Research Organisation.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Business Development to lead and expand our client acquisition and relationship management efforts across North America.

As a senior sales leader, you will play a critical role in driving the continued growth of our organisation by securing new business opportunities, nurturing strategic partnerships, and representing our full suite of services to both emerging biotech and established pharmaceutical clients.

This role is ideal for a results-driven professional with deep industry knowledge, a strong network within life sciences, and a passion for helping clients accelerate their drug development programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively identify, engage, and secure new business opportunities with pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device companies.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong, long-term relationships with existing clients, ensuring continued satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans that align with company goals and market demands.
  • Lead the full sales cycle from initial contact and proposal development through to contract negotiation and deal closure.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with project management, operations, and executive teams to ensure seamless client onboarding and delivery.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging markets to position the company as a preferred CRO partner.
  • Track sales performance metrics and provide regular reporting on pipeline activity, forecasts, and target achievements.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, networking events, and client meetings.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, business, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in business development or sales within the CRO or life sciences industry.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and successfully managing complex deals.
  • Deep understanding of the clinical research and drug development process.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to influence senior-level stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using CRM systems and sales analytics tools.
  • Ability to travel as needed (up to 30%).
