The Director of Business Development, Beverage, is primarily responsible for identifying, developing, and executing strategic business opportunities for the company’s beverage portfolio. This role requires deep industry knowledge, strong business acumen, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, distributors, and suppliers. The goal is to expand the company’s market presence, enhance sales channels, and drive revenue growth. This role will work cross-functionally with a team of subject matter experts to create and execute solutions that achieve customers’ business objectives and sales growth internally.

Preferred Location: Greater New York City Area

Primary Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to drive growth in the beverage category.
  • Deliver the agreed upon new business plan in alignment with the company’s financial goals.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with current customers and identify new business opportunities.
  • Work closely with the Beverage Sales team to understand customers’ critical business strategies to create and execute solutions that meet their business objectives.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities for growth and innovation.
  • Review monthly and quarterly sales objectives and results for target accounts and prepare action plans where improvement is needed.
  • Develop strong working relationships with a wider team at the Martin Bauer international headquarters, internal cross-functional teams, and industry peers.
  • Learn quickly when facing new challenges; thrive in a fast-paced learning environment.
  • Adapt well to change and view new experiences as growth opportunities.
  • Ensure that data and activity on new and current accounts is accurately entered and managed within the company platforms.
  • Present to and consult with senior level management on sales strategy plans and results.
  • Stay current with company’s value-added offerings and solutions.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in B2B ingredient/solutions sales, with a focus on the beverage industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent educational level.
Knowledge Skills
  • Market trend expert and knowledge of competitor activities.
  • Strategic thinker with a track record of developing and executing successful sales strategies.
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to express information in terms of profit and loss, cost and expense ratio.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with and influence a variety of key stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills; ability to effectively communicate with internal and external teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver against deadlines and produce high-quality results (accuracy, thoroughness in the deliverables they are producing).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Applications Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, including the ability to execute multiple initiatives at the same time.
  • Demonstrated experience with building trust with a prospective customer and securing new business.
  • Demonstrated skills in the area of consultative selling, networking, and negotiations.
  • Understanding of marketing principles, product lines, ordering procedures, and credit terms.
