Job summary

The Carolina Center for Behavioral Health in Greenville, SC seeks a Director of Business Development to lead marketing, sales and customer service within the Marketing Department. You will drive utilization of the continuum of care through marketing principles and collaborate with facility leadership on growth and programming opportunities.

As a member of the management team, you will shape the facility’s strategic marketing plan, foster relationships with referral sources, and manage the sales

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business or related field required.
  • Prior marketing and/or sales experience within a behavioral healthcare setting preferred.
  • Three to five years minimum documented experience in referral development, account management, sales growth, and physician relationships preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee development and growth of profitable new business opportunities and implement marketing strategies to meet objectives.
  • Serve as liaison between the facility and payer entities in line with corporate expectations.
  • Make contacts with referral sources and maintain a personal book of business, with weekly field-based activities.
  • Strategically analyze and designate target markets for account managers and assignments, aligning strengths with referral sources.
  • Maintain knowledge of target markets and status of specific markets to guide strategy.

The Carolina Center for Behavioral Health is a 156-bed private behavioral health system located on 13 acres in the Greenville, South Carolina Area. Specializing in psychiatric programs and substance abuse treatments such as detox and rehab, The Carolina Center serves Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson, and areas throughout South Carolina and western North Carolina. Programs are available at various levels of care to accommodate the severity of every patient’s condition: inpatient, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient treatment. Summary Of Job Duties

The Director of Business Development oversees the provision of Sales, Marketing, and Customer Service activities within the Marketing Department. The Director of Business Development is responsible for achieving the desired utilization of the organization’s continuum of care through the effective application of marketing principles and methods. As a member of the facility management team, the Director of Business Development is actively involved in discussions related to a wide variety of facility issues including, but not limited to, strategic planning, potential growth opportunities, future projects, changing in programing/protocols, recruitment, and retention. The Director of Business Development is responsible for the facility’s strategic marketing plan, enhancing the facility’s brand/image, management of all sales and business development activities and maintaining an active and productive working relationship with internal departments and communicates issues or potential problems proactively, especially with CEO and Director of Admissions/Intake. Hours are based on departmental, and facility needs and may include day, evening, and weekend hours, as directed by the CEO/Managing Director.


Essential Job Functions


  • Oversee the development and growth of profitable new business opportunities. Develop and implement marketing strategies to assist the facility in meeting business objectives.

  • Serves as the liaison, under the direction of the CEO and CFO, between the facility and payer entities and in a manner consistent with corporate expectations.

  • Make contacts with referral sources and establishes appropriate professional relationships with potential and current referral sources. The Director of Business Development is expected to maintain a personal “book of business” and make face-to-face field-based contacts weekly, exclusive of field coaching ride-a-longs.

  • Strategically analyzes and designates target markets for account managers and territory/account assignments, considering the strengths and weaknesses of each account manager. Ensure that expertise and personal style of team members are insightfully matched to prospective referral sources.

  • Maintains a general working knowledge of the target markets utilized for referrals, as well as comprehensive knowledge of the status of specific target markets.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business or related field required. Master’s Degree preferred


Experience: Prior marketing and/or sales experience within a behavioral healthcare setting preferred. Three to five years minimum documented experience in referral development, account management, sales growth, and physician relationships preferred.


Additional Requirements: Must possess a valid Driver's License. Prefer knowledge of Upstate South Carolina and Western North Carolina behavioral health marketplace, insurance plans, target markets and referral sources, psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment, and age-specific programming. Must possess demonstrated business development concepts, sales abilities, competency in computer usage, and excellent written and oral communicaton skills; knowledge of and skills in application of marketing and sales principals; creativity and flexibility; skills in data collection analysis and interpretation; record of adherance to deadlines; customer service skills; willingness to travel, including overnight travel as required.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have full range of mobility in upper and lower body; be able to reach overhead; be able to work in various positions, including stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling and squatting for extended periods of time; be able to lift, pull and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks; and be able to frequently lift 50-100 pounds of weight throughout the assigned workday. Ability to express and exchange ideas via spoken language or important spoken instructions to others accurately, sometimes quickly and loudly. Hearing to perceive sound with no less than 40 dBs loss @ Hz,1000 Hz, and 2000 Hz with or without correction; ability to perceive detailed information through oral communication and to make fine discriminations in sound. Perform repetitive motions with wrists, hands and fingers. Work requires a minimum standard of visual acuity with or without correction that will enable people in the role to complete administrative and clerical tasks and visually observe patients on the unit and in therapeutic activities. While worker may possibly be subjected to temperature changes, the worker is generally not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions as the work is predominantly inside.
