Blue Palms Senior Living of DeLand is seeking a highly motivated Business Development Director to lead census development and occupancy management, driving occupancy and revenue while ensuring compliance with state and federal standards.

The role requires collaboration with admissions, business development, and operations to build referral networks, manage admissions processes, and maintain accurate census records across the facility’s ALF/IL services.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of census development and occupancy management in an ALF/IL healthcare setting.
• Knowledgeable of nursing/medical practices and regulations for ALF/ILF/Independent Living.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, organize, implement, and evaluate the operation of the AL/IL community to achieve census goals while complying with laws and regulations.
• Evaluate and adjust admission practices based on census goals.
• Coordinate with business office and Admissions Director to achieve occupancy and collections targets.
• Develop internal census sales strategies with Admissions Coordinator and Director of Business Development to maintain referral partner relationships.
• Identify new referral partners and communicate facility services to them.
• Assist with referrals, processing daily, and track referral status.
• Ensure residents pay status changes are recorded in census tools and resident records.
• Maintain alignment of behavior with occupancy and customer service goals.
• Complete admission paperwork per facility policy and inform Administrator of obstacles with solutions.
• Provide tours to potential residents and wellness checks in IL communities.
• Develop and stage model units when needed and upload documents to facility systems.
• Promote safe work practices and accident prevention procedures.

Blue Palms Senior Living of DeLand is seeking a high motivated individual to join our team as the Business Development Director of ALF/IL. In this role you will be leading census development and occupancy management to achieve financial goals of the facility while also maintaining compliance in accordance with local, state and federal standards and regulations, established facility policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Must have, as a minimum, three (2) years of experience with demonstrated success in census development and occupancy management in an Assisted Living or Independent Living Senior Community, or other related health care facility.
• Knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations and guidelines pertaining to Assisted Living/Independent Living.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, organize, implement, and evaluate the overall operation of the Assisted and Independent Living Community under the direction of the Administrator, as well as its programs and activities, to develop census goals while also maintaining compliance with current state and federal laws and regulations.
• Evaluate and subsequently adjust admission practices for the Assisted Living and Independent Living community as needed based on expected census goals.
• Ensure there is an open and collaborative relationship between the business office and the Director of Admissions, working toward shared facility goals regarding occupancy and collections.
• Plan, develop and implement an internal census sales strategy with the Admissions Coordinator and Director of Business Development to develop and maintain strong relationships with referral partners/sources such as hospitals, physicians, senior centers, department of human resources, home health agencies, hospices, etc.
• Identify opportunities with new referral partners/sources and develop sales strategies to build relationships and communicate the facility’s services and offerings.
• Assist Director of Business Development and Admissions Coordinator with referrals, processing timely and accurately daily.
• Always know the status of each referral.
• Ensure residents pay status changes are accurately recorded on the facility’s internal daily census communication tool.
• Ensure residents pay status is accurately recorded in the resident’s record at time of admission.
• Ensure that behavior is aligned with facility goals for occupancy and customer service.
• Ensure Assisted Living/Independent Living admission paperwork is completed and filed according to facility policy.
• Inform the Administrator of obstacles or barriers to admitting residents and provide solutions to such obstacles and barriers.
• Provide tours to potential residents of the senior living community.
• Provide wellness checks to the Independent Living community.
• Develop and stage model units when necessary.
• Upload appropriate documents into facility systems as necessary.
• Promote safe work practices, safety rules, and accident prevention procedures to prevent employee injury and illness.
