Job summary

The Medical College of Wisconsin seeks a Director for the Office of Technology Development to lead technology transfer efforts, protect MCW IP, and license discoveries to industry, advancing collaborations with biotech and pharma partners.

You will oversee the technology portfolio, manage staff, budget, and external partnerships, and represent MCW to trustees, legislators, and industry stakeholders, shaping strategy and compliance across federal rules.

Qualifications

• Experience with university technology transfer, IP policy, and commercialization processes.

Responsibilities

• Manage, encourage, and support development, disclosure, and protection of MCW's intellectual property; review proposals and ensure compliance with laws.
• Provide strategic direction for the Office of Technology Development and supervise staff.
• Identify technologies suitable for university spin-outs and collaborate with partners to commercialize results.
• Monitor portfolio performance and report findings to leadership.
• Foster industry relationships to secure external funding and licensing opportunities.
• Develop and maintain strong ties with departments and research centers to educate on tech transfer and IP.
• Present to leaders, trustees, and legislators as requested.
• Oversee budget and fiscal performance within the unit.
• Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate staff; conduct annual reviews.
