MassBio is seeking a Technology Licensing Officer to evaluate inventions for commercial potential, develop strategies, and license to biotech/pharma entities. The role directs outside counsel on patent drafting, collaborates with hospital centers, and manages a range of IP agreements including data and material transfers.

The position requires a Master’s in Biological Science (PhD or JD preferred), 5–8 years licensing experience, and strong writing/communication skills to navigate complex

Formación

• Master’s degree in Biological Science required; Doctoral degree in Biological Science or JD preferred.
• 5–8 years technology licensing experience in academic, medical center, and/or industrial environments.
• Knowledge of patent terminology and filing procedures including US and foreign matters.
• Must be highly accurate, strong attention to detail and maintain confidentiality of IP affairs.
• Strong writing and verbal skills with MS Office and internet research capabilities.

Responsabilidades

• Negotiates drafts and maintains IP agreements including licensing, SRA, MTA, NDA, and other contract types; edits language for consistency with policies.
• Evaluates new invention disclosures, develops protection strategies, and directs outside patent counsel in drafting and prosecution of patents.
• Develops commercialization strategies identifying biotech, pharma, and medical device partners capable of licensing.
• Educates researchers on invention disclosures, IP protection, and licensing per institutional policies.
• Timely enters agreements into the TVO IP database and supports intake from the grant portal.
• Assists TVO Finance Analyst with reconciliation of outside patent counsel invoices.
• Evaluates invention disclosures involving AI, software, and data-driven technologies; tailors IP strategies for digital tools.
