Job summary

The Medical College of Wisconsin, Inc. seeks a Director to lead the Office of Technology Development, overseeing discovery-to-market efforts and the IP portfolio.

You will provide strategic direction, manage a team of technology managers, and build collaborations with industry to translate research into commercial products. This role requires a PhD in biomedical sciences and at least seven years in technology transfer, with strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree (doctorate/PhD) in biomedical sciences.
• Minimum seven years of experience in technology transfer/business development, with knowledge of an academic setting and biomedical sciences.

Responsibilities

• Manage and protect MCW IP portfolio, including reviews and compliance with laws.
• Provide strategic direction for the Office of Technology Development (OTD).
• Lead technology management professionals and oversee quality of work.
• Identify technologies best commercialized by a university spin-out and coordinate licensing/partnerships.
• Monitor performance of the technology portfolio.
• Develop relationships with industry and secure external funding.
• Educate faculty, staff and students on technology transfer/IP concepts.
• Oversee unit budget and staff performance.
