The role focuses on licensing, sponsored research, data transfer, and AI-related agreements to advance biomedical innovations. The position requires advanced biological science education, hands-on licensing experience, and ability to guide researchers through IP protection and commercialization

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Biological Science required; Doctoral degree in Biological Science or JD preferred.
• 5 - 8 years technology licensing experience in academic, medical center, and/or industrial environments required.
• Knowledge of patent terminology and filing procedures including both U.S. and foreign matters.
• Strong writing and verbal skills and experience with Word, Excel, Outlook; solid internet research capabilities (USPTO, EPO, WIPO, Google Patents).
• Willingness to work as a team player in a fast-paced, demanding environment.

Responsibilities

• Negotiates drafts and maintains intellectual property agreements including licensing, industrially sponsored research, MTA, DTA, and patent management agreements.
• Edits language unique to each IP agreement type while aligning with hospital policies (essential).
• Evaluates new invention disclosures and directs outside patent counsel in drafting and prosecution of patents (essential).
• Develops commercialization strategies for inventions, identifying biotech/pharma/medical device companies capable of licensing.
• Educates researchers on invention disclosures and IP protection/licensing per BIDMC policies (essential).
• Enters agreements into TVO IP database and assists with intake from the grant portal (essential).
• Assists TVO Finance Analyst with reconciliation of outside patent counsel invoices.
