Job summary
GAF is seeking a Director of Automation and Control Systems to guide the Automation & Controls team, partnering with engineering to drive continuous improvement across facilities. You will influence capital planning and ensure alignment with manufacturing optimization initiatives while delivering robust operational support.
Based in a remote US role, you will lead cross-functional initiatives, manage budgets and projects, and promote a culture of safety and integrity in all automation efforts,
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required
- 10+ years of experience in manufacturing
- Experience leading Automation & Controls projects across multiple manufacturing locations
- Proven experience leading a team indirectly or directly
- Proven relationship building and development of strong partnerships
- Working knowledge of: Computer aided drawing; Human machine interface development; Programmable logic controllers; G-Suite; Advanced diagnostic tools
Responsibilities
- Lead all functions of the Automation and Controls group.
- Contribute to 3- and 5-year capital plans for facilities.
- Collaborate with IT, Process Services, Engineering, and others to integrate automation.
- Oversee budgeting, capital projects, and financial reporting.
- Partner with operations systems to deploy automation software.
- Guide engineering practices, mitigate obsolescence, drive project deployment.
- Provide leadership and promote a collaborative, safety-focused culture.
- Ensure safety standards are implemented and observed.
