Job summary

GAF is seeking a Director of Automation and Control Systems to lead the Automation & Controls team, collaborating with engineering to foster continuous innovation and manufacturing optimization. You will influence capital planning and drive cross-functional collaboration while providing ongoing support to production facilities.

The role requires 10+ years in manufacturing, strong leadership, and deep knowledge of CAD, HMI, PLCs, and related tools.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is required.
10+ years of experience in manufacturing.
Experience leading Automation & Controls projects across multiple manufacturing locations.
Proven experience leading a team indirectly or directly.
Proven relationship building and development of strong partnerships.
Working knowledge of CAD, HMI development, Programmable logic controllers, G-Suite, and advanced diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

Effectively manage all functions of Automation and Controls group.
Contribute to 3 & 5 year capital plans for manufacturing facilities.
Collaborate with IT, Process Services, Corporate Eng., GAF Business Systems, and R&D for integration.
Manage capitalized projects, budgets, and financial reporting.
Oversee software implementation across the Automation and Controls team.
Ensure documentation of controls systems and adherence to safety standards.
