Job summary

Chicago Roof Deck + Garden is seeking a Director of Architecture and Sales to blend technical spatial expertise with consultative selling. You will manage the entire client journey from site consultation through design concepts to closing, ensuring design intent and buildability.

The role requires a degree in Architecture, 10+ years in architectural design or contracting, and a proven track record closing design-build projects.

Qualifications

• Degree in Architecture is required.
• 10+ years in architectural design or general contracting.
• Proven revenue responsibility closing design-build projects.
• Deep understanding of concrete, wood, composite, steel.
• Experience in high-end space and building envelope design.
• Advanced 2D and 3D modeling.
• Excellent verbal and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial site assessments.
• Evaluate site conditions for updates, repairs or new designs.
• Develop models, layouts and material specs.
• Plan implementation, logistics and installation methods.
• Navigate building codes and permitting.
• Lead sales presentations.
• Manage designs from junior designers.
• Manage sale cycle from lead to close.
• Maintain sales quota of $5M+ in annual closed contract volume.
• Prepare proposals and scope-of-work balancing vision with margins.
• Serve as the primary design authority from kickoff to hand-off.
• Coordinate with engineers, project managers and supervisors.
