Chicago Roof Deck + Garden is seeking a Director of Architecture and Sales to blend technical spatial expertise with consultative selling. You will manage the entire client journey from site consultation through design concepts to closing, ensuring design intent and buildability.

The role requires a degree in Architecture, 10+ years in architectural design or contracting, and a proven track record closing design-build projects.

Qualifications

• Deep understanding of concrete, wood, composite, steel.

Responsibilities

Job description

Chicago Roof Deck + Garden is looking for a Director of Architecture and Sales.We need a blend of technical spatial expertise and consultative selling. You will manage the entire client journey- initial site consultation, evaluating structural constraints, designing, presenting concepts and closing.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial site assessments
• Evaluate existing site conditions to recommend updates, repair details, or custom new designs and commissioning further structural or invasive inspections when necessary
• Develop models, structure, layouts, finishes and material specifications by self or with cooperation with structural engineer, construction principal and architectural team
• Develop plan of implementation, logistics and installation means and methods
• Navigate the Chicago building codes, setback regulations and permitting processes
• Lead sales presentations
• Manage designs by self and those assigned to junior designers
• Manage sale cycle from initial lead generation to project close-out
• Maintain a personal sales quota of $5M+ in annual closed contract volume
• Build accurate estimate proposals and scope-of-work documentation balancing client vision with constructability and margin targets
• Serve as the primary design authority for your projects from kick-off through production hand-off
• Collaborate with structural engineers, construction principal, project managers and field supervisors to ensure design intent and structural details are executed flawlessly

Qualifications & Background

• Degree in Architecture
• 10+ years of experience in architectural design or general contracting
• Proven experience closing design-build projects with direct revenue responsibility
• Deep understanding of structural and architectural characteristics of concrete, wood, composite, steel building materials
• Experienced in high end space and building envelope design
• Advanced 2D and 3D modeling
• Exceptional verbal, written and presentation skills

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary- $125,000+
• Additional compensation- combination of closed sales volume, profitability and staffing efficency
