Job description

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Licensed Architect to join our team as a Design Director / Project Director. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing the design, technical development, and successful execution of architectural projects while serving as the primary point of contact for clients and internal teams.

The ideal candidate combines strong design vision, technical expertise, project leadership, and client management skills. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the artistic and technical direction of architectural projects.
• Translate strategic project goals into innovative architectural solutions.
• Develop and maintain project concepts, design language, material selections, and user experience.
• Review and approve design proposals before client presentations.
• Protect and maintain design integrity throughout all project phases.

Technical Leadership

• Coordinate architectural design with engineering disciplines, including MEP, structural, and BIM teams.
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards.
• Resolve technical design challenges and coordinate solutions with consultants and project teams.
• Lead project development through Concept Design, Schematic Design (SD), Design Development (DD), and Construction Documents (CD).

Client & Project Management

• Serve as the primary client-facing design lead.
• Lead regular project meetings and provide progress updates.
• Communicate project milestones, risks, deliverables, and next steps.
• Collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure successful project execution.
• Review all project deliverables before submission.
• Guide and mentor architects, designers, and project teams.
• Assign responsibilities and oversee project workloads.
• Foster collaboration, accountability, and design excellence across the team.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Architecture.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in architectural design and project leadership.
• Experience leading hospitality, multifamily residential, mixed-use, luxury residential, or commercial projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction documentation, BIM coordination, consultant management, and project delivery processes.
• Advanced proficiency in Revit and industry-standard design software.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and client relationship skills.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supervising senior architects or project directors.
• Experience working on complex, large-scale architectural projects.
• Strong leadership, mentoring, and team development skills.
• Base Salary: Starting at $120,000 annually (flexible based on experience).
• Monthly Performance Bonus: Opportunity to earn an additional 10%–30% annually based on individual and company performance.
• Year-End Bonus: Equivalent to 45 days of salary based on performance.
• Health Insurance: 50% employer-paid medical coverage, including dental and vision.
• 13 Paid Vacation Days annually.
• Paid Holidays.

Work Schedule

• Monday–Thursday: 8:30 AM – 6:00 PM
• Friday: 8:30 AM – 2:30 PM
