Job summary

Aptive Environmental, LLC is seeking a Director of Artificial Intelligence in Provo, UT to define and ship our AI strategy. You will lead production ML efforts that impact routing, service planning, and customer engagement, building a high-performing AI team across the Pest Intelligence Center.

You will collaborate with data engineers to deploy models, monitor performance, and ensure responsible AI use. The role drives measurable business outcomes and strategic growth.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in data science, ML, or AI, including 3+ years leading teams.
• Track record of ML systems in production that changed a business metric – explain the lift.
• Depth in forecasting, optimization, or recommendation systems.
• Strong Python and SQL; fluency with a modern cloud data stack (Snowflake).
• Experience with LLM-based applications, and governance.
• Ability to translate between executives and engineers, and to say no to low-value AI requests.
• Hands-on enough to review a colleague's model and debug a pipeline.

Responsibilities

• AI strategy and roadmap for the Technology organization, prioritized by business impact and data readiness.
• Pest Intelligence Center evolution from forecasting to proactive service planning.
• Applied ML in production: forecasting, routing, pricing inputs, lead qualification.
• Customer/technician-facing AI: contact center automation and agent assist.
• Team building: hire and grow ML/data science staff, set standards and reviews.
• Partner with Data Engineering on data warehouse and feature infra.
• AI governance: model monitoring, drift, bias, data privacy, responsible use.
