Job summary

Aptive Environmental in Provo, Utah is hiring a Director of Artificial Intelligence to lead and ship AI-powered strategies for our Pest Intelligence Center. You will define how we route technicians, time treatments, and forecast pest activity, tying AI to real operational outcomes.

You will build and mentor a team of ML/data scientists, collaborate with Data Engineering, ensure governance, and drive impact across markets with production-grade models and responsible AI practices.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in data science, ML, or AI, incl. 3+ years leading teams.
• Proven production ML systems that moved business metrics.
• Deep forecasting, optimization, or recommendation experience.
• Strong Python and SQL; fluency with a modern cloud data stack (Snowflake).
• Experience with LLM-based applications and responsible AI judgment.

Responsibilities

• Define AI strategy and roadmap aligned with business impact.
• Advance the Pest Intelligence Center into proactive service planning.
• Build production ML for demand forecasting, routing, and pricing inputs.
• Deliver customer/technician AI tools like agent assist and decision support.
• Hire and grow a team of ML/data scientists and set standards.
• Partner with Data Engineering on data pipelines and feature stores.
• Implement AI governance: monitoring, drift detection, privacy.
