Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Director, AI Engineer (Remote Eligible) to lead AI foundation models and scalable AI infrastructure within the Intelligent Foundations and Experiences team. You will guide cross-functional teams of engineers, researchers, and PMs to deliver responsible AI products that transform banking experiences.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in AI/ML, 3+ years of people leadership, and deep expertise in Python, C++, and cloud AI platforms.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, AI, or related fields with 6+–8+ years in AI/ML.
At least 3 years of people leadership experience.
Experience building and leading AI/ML teams and production systems.

Responsibilities

Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products affecting associates and customers.
Oversee design, development, testing, deployment, and observability of AI software components.
Make build-vs-buy decisions across Open Source and SaaS AI technologies.
Lead foundation model optimization for performance, cost, latency, and throughput.
Contribute to the technical vision and long-term AI platform strategy.
