Job summary

The Birmingham Museum of Art seeks a dynamic Director of Advancement to lead all development activities, oversee staff, and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan. This executive role involves stewarding major donors and coordinating with the museum board, committees, and internal teams to advance programs and exhibitions.

Responsibilities include managing budgets, donor recognition, and major gifts strategies, along with planning events such as the annual Museum Ball to engage supporters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with significant fundraising experience.
• Ability to manage confidential information responsibly.
• Experience supervising staff in a similar organization.
• Ability to read and understand financial reports and manage budgets.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate all activities of the Advancement Department.
• Develop and implement an overall advancement plan and funding plans.
• Supervise Advancement staff and liaise with Museum boards and committees.
• Cultivate and steward major donors and corporate giving.
• Plan and oversee special events and donor programming.
