Job summary

Rumpke Waste and Recycling is seeking a Director of Accounting to ensure integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial records and reporting. You will oversee the general ledger, close process, technical accounting, and internal controls, partnering with finance leadership and operations to support strategic objectives.

This high-visibility role reports to senior finance leadership, owning financial reporting, close cycles, controls, and team development across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience with 4+ years in leadership.
• Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience owning close processes and managing external audits.
• Ability to lead multi-entity, multi-location accounting teams.

Responsibilities

• Direct accounts payable, accounts receivable, GL, and collections through managers.
• Own 3- to 5-year roadmap for accounting function, systems, and processes.
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close with accurate GAAP reporting.
• Maintain internal controls and oversee annual audit coordination.
• Deliver financial packages and insights to senior leadership.
• Drive system, process, and automation improvements for scalability.
• Develop and mentor the accounting team.
