Job summary

The University of Michigan-Flint seeks a Director of Disability and Accessibility Support Services (DASS) to lead the campus disability services department. You will oversee accommodation processes, ensure compliance with ADA/504, manage staff, and coordinate with students, faculty, and administrators to promote universal access.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Higher Education, Special Education, Rehabilitation Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.
• Five+ years progressive experience in disability services in higher education or related field.
• Three+ years of supervisory/management experience.
• Knowledge of ADA, ADAA and Section 504 in higher education.
• Demonstrated ability handling complex student situations and crisis management.
• Knowledge of FERPA/HIPAA standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead interactive accommodation processes, review requests, interpret documentation, and determine reasonable accommodations per laws and policy.
• Oversee implementation of approved accommodations (academic, housing, testing) with campus partners.
• Maintain confidential records of accommodation requests and assistive technology support.
• Manage access to, and instruction on, assistive technologies for curriculum access.
• Develop outreach to promote DASS and engage students, faculty, and staff.
• Foster a collaborative, inclusive culture focused on service excellence.
• Ensure compliance with disability legislation and university procedures.
