Job summary

Southern Methodist University’s Bobby B. Lyle School of Engineering seeks an Academic Technology Services Director to lead hands-on technology support for faculty and students. You will oversee Linux-based environments, HPC resources, and online course delivery, collaborating with OIT and the Lyle Dean’s office.

You will pilot AI-enabled teaching tools, develop literacy resources, and ensure secure, compliant research computing support for engineering projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years in academic/ instructional tech or related field; or Master’s with 3+ years.
• Experience with Linux/Unix administration.
• Experience with Canvas or LMS and supporting faculty/students.
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills; customer-service orientation.
• Experience with STEM/research computing environments and HPC is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as embedded academic technology partner for Lyle School of Engineering.
• Design, deploy, and support instructional and research tech across classrooms, labs, and online delivery.
• Pilot and support AI tools; develop literacy resources and training for faculty and students.
• Provide hands‑on delivery for LMS, course delivery, and online/synchronous learning support.
• Assist with research computing environments, scheduling (SLURM), and engineering software.
