Job summary

The University of North Texas is seeking a Director of Undergraduate Advising and Retention for the G. Brint Ryan College of Business.

You will set strategic priorities for advising, align them with UNT goals, and lead a team to deliver outstanding student support across programs. You will design performance metrics, supervise senior staff, and implement best practices in advising and retention while coordinating with colleges, faculty, and Student Success initiatives.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of university policies and student development theory.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to plan, supervise staff and manage resources.
• Ability to work with diverse populations and communicate in writing.

Responsibilities

• Strategic planning and communication for RCOB advising and retention; defines priorities and communicates them to staff and faculty.
• Sets performance objectives and designs metrics; monitors progress and aligns motivation with priorities.
• Identifies and implements best practices in undergraduate advising and retention; coordinates with UNT committees and offices.
• Leads and develops advising staff; provides mentorship and fosters a collaborative work culture.
• Develops and enforces advising policies to promote student success and a high-quality advising experience.
• Manages resources and staffing; plans hires and ensures efficient utilization of advising resources.
• Oversees scheduling of advising appointments, orientation, and new hire training; ensures continuity of practices.
