Job summary

Brown & Brown is seeking a Director of Absence Consulting to partner with clients on absence and disability management from strategy to execution, covering FMLA, sick pay, paid leave, and related laws. You will contribute to practice strategy, oversee client delivery, and lead a high-performing team.

The role requires deep expertise in absence management, strong communication, and the ability to drive projects, manage budgets, and mentor staff across client engagements.

Qualifications

• BA or BS degree preferred or equivalent work experience
• 5+ years leading people in a high-performance consulting environment
• 15+ years experience in design/management of group disability and absence management plans in consulting, brokerage, or carrier environments
• Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities
• Strong verbal and written communication; ability to present to C-level audiences
• Experience re-engineering operations and developing new strategies
• Solid understanding of business planning principles and tools
• Strong analytical and critical thinking with sound judgment
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Salesforce
• Ability to travel 40-75% as needed

Responsibilities

• Provide consulting on large absence and disability management projects: plan design/strategy, funding, vendor analysis, and program evaluation
• Deliver high-quality client deliverables and manage project plans and budgets
• Manage client expectations and maintain alignment with objectives and timelines
• Develop trusted advisor relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Remain current on industry trends, legislation, and vendor updates
• Contribute to thought leadership through articles, whitepapers, and speaking engagements
• Mentor internal staff and collaborate across cross-functional teams
• Support new business opportunities and client retention efforts
• Build and maintain libraries of standard project deliverables
