Job summary

NBCUniversal’s Global Security Operations team seeks a Director, Security to oversee security logistics and physical security for NBCU News personnel and spaces, including remote operations. The role is based in New York City and requires on-site work with seniors and talent, managing vendor relationships and enterprise security plans.

The position requires significant media/security experience, budget oversight, and collaboration across internal teams and external partners.

Qualifications

• Significant professional experience in media or news security, corporate security, military, law enforcement or similar.
• Experience managing budgets and stakeholder management, including working with external vendors.
• Experience with general security concepts and methods such as deployment planning, vulnerability assessments, privacy assessments, intrusion detection, incident response, and security policy creation.
• Must be willing to be on-call and available 24/7 for emergencies.
• Must be willing to travel, as needed, at times on short notice.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute security logistics for news remotes and events, including vendor coordination and post-mortems.
• Coordinate News Security responses to large-scale stories and maintain a follow-the-sun support model.
• Establish security guidelines and training requirements for News employees and liaise with training vendors.
• Handle confidential information with discretion and provide guidance during high-stress situations.
• Work with Global Security Operations and NBCU Cyber Security to coordinate security needs and reporting with GRIC.
• Assist News management with investigations and participate in Crisis Management teams.
• Develop relationships with law enforcement and other security partners; provide protection support as needed.
• Advise on security policies, training, tools, and resources for newsgathering safety.
