Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 7 years in Information Technology, with at least 3 years in a formal leadership role.
  • Leadership of network engineering, Cisco operations, and telecommunications staff.
  • Strong ITSM, change management, incident management, and service delivery experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, oversight, coaching, mentoring, and performance management for network staff.
  • Set work priorities and allocate resources to balance operations and strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to best practices, standards, and governance for enterprise networks.
  • Lead enterprise network architecture, security analysis, and standards development.
  • Manage data center operations, LAN/WAN, telecom hardware, and DAS for in-house services.
  • Develop KPIs, SLAs, and service metrics aligned with institutional priorities.
  • Oversee vendor relationships for maintenance, upgrades, and implementation.

Primary Location: 2200 W. University Drive, McKinney, Texas, 75071

We are searching for candidates that meet the required qualifications and experience and are able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

Job Summary: Ensure quality and responsive services through management and delivery of ongoing preventative maintenance, assessment, and proactive monitoring of the Collin College data network. Will provide technical guidance and support with the direction and leadership of the Technical Services leadership. Responsible for a mission critical service requiring stability, reliability, and performance optimization.

Required Qualifications: Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide leadership, oversight, coaching, mentoring, and performance management for network engineering, Cisco network operations, and telecommunications staff. Establish work priorities and allocate departmental resources to balance operational support and strategic initiatives. Ensure adherence to best practices and proven methodologies to promote continuous information operations and the integration of new value-added technical services and technology. Provide technical leadership for enterprise network architecture, standards, and infrastructure governance. Maintenance and support of data center operations, LAN/WAN architecture, network hardware, telecommunications hardware and distributed antennas systems (DAS) for in-house cellular services. Provide network design, security analysis/design and implementation, definition and coordination of standards, project management, and technology research. Develop departmental goals, objectives, key performance indicators (KPIs), and service metrics aligned with institutional priorities. Manage staff to maintain up-to-date system and network documentation and inventories. Work with general contractors and project managers to ensure system(s) implementation, enhancement, and maintenance tasks proceed according to construction project timelines. Manage system documentation and procedures for identified systems. Monitor and assess system(s) and solution(s) effectiveness over time. Assist in the performance of business requirement analyses with functional user groups and map these requirements to appropriate existing and/or new software solutions for implementation. Oversee vendor relationships as it relates to maintenance, enhancements, and implementation of upgraded or new LAN/WAN, and telecommunications systems. Supplemental Functions Perform other duties as assigned. Perform all duties to maintain all standards in accordance with college policies, procedures, and Core Values.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge and experience with network, infrastructure, telecommunications technologies and protocols. Strong knowledge of IT Service Management (ITSM) principles, change management, incident management, problem management, and service delivery best practices. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication and presentation skills. State & Federal Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with higher ed data mandates including FERPA, HIPAA, CJIS, and Texas State DIR security frameworks. Ability to facilitate problem-solving among administrative groups with varying needs and priorities, and to communicate well with administrative users, technical staff, and senior management. Ability to establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and operational metrics.

Physical Demands, Working Conditions and Physical Effort Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects. Positions in this class typically include talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching, plus climbing and balancing. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, odors, dust, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting and intense noises. Occasional exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Occasional outside work. Occasional physical effort required.

Requirements Bachelor’s degree and (7) seven years in Information Technology, with at least (3) three years in a formal leadership role. Equivalency Language Associate degree an additional (2) years of directly related experience may be substituted for the required education and experience.

Preferred Possess one of more of the following certifications: ITIL Foundations Cisco CCNA Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) **This position is Security Sensitive, therefore, candidates will be subject to a criminal background check and a continuous DPS agency review.**
