Job summary

Franklin Companies seeks a Director of Multi-family Accounting to lead the accounting for its affordable housing portfolio, including LIHTC, HUD, HOME, and state housing programs. You will drive month-end close, budgeting, and regulatory reporting while partnering with management, asset, and compliance teams to protect financial health.

You will mentor a team of property accountants, ensure GAAP compliance, and coordinate audits and tax returns for a growing portfolio across multiple states.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience in multi-family or affordable housing.
• 3+ years in a leadership/supervisory role managing an accounting team.
• Hands-on experience with property management accounting software (Yardi, RealPage, MRI).
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and fund/subsidy accounting for regulated affordable housing.

Responsibilities

• Direct the monthly, quarterly, and annual close for all multi-family properties.
• Oversee property- and portfolio-level financial reporting for ownership, investors, and lenders.
• Lead annual budgeting and reforecasting for the portfolio.
• Manage and mentor a team of property accountants.
• Oversee cash management, reconciliations, and escrow accounting for LIHTC/HUD properties.
• Coordinate audits, cost certifications, and tax returns with external auditors.
