Why Your Role Matters

The Marketing Director is a results-driven leader who is accountable for marketing execution for the Greater Austin YMCA. This skilled marketer is responsible for translating strategic vision and direction from the Chief Marketing Officer and developing tactical and executional marketing plans that align with the organization’s objectives and target audience to drive acquisition for membership, programs growth and philanthropic engagement. This role serves in four key sub-roles: Growth Driver, Innovation Catalyst, Brand Storyteller and Capability Builder.

In this influential role, you will execute high-impact marketing strategies that enhance brand reputation, generate revenue, and foster community partnerships. Your work will put the Greater Austin community at the center of everything you do, seamlessly blending consumer and category trends, creativity and data driven analytics to help elevate our brand awareness to brand preference. This role requires a marketing professional who can actively lead projects while effectively coaching and developing marketing team members for performance and purpose-driven relationships across the organization, with key partners and within our community.

Annual salary range of $75,000 to $85,000, depending on experience. This position is also eligible for our bonus program.

How You Will Make An Impact

  • Manage and drive the creation, launch and execution of integrated marketing strategies designed to drive membership growth, elevate program participation, increase philanthropic support and community impact.
  • Oversee integrated marketing planning to deliver focused outcomes. This includes data informed audience strategies, paid, earned, shared and owned platforms (PESO) channel selection and creative direction from project start through measured performance in market. Scope includes all digital and traditional media forms.
  • Analyze, monitor and provide clear data-driven headlines and documented key results of each marketing campaign against goals and capture relevant learnings on acquisition costs (CPA), and campaign effectiveness (ROAS) to continuously optimize marketing to drive growth.
  • Lead and manage project scopes with an eye for opportunistic ways to deliver bigger results while adhering to financial controls and aligned timelines.
  • Overall project management architect across all active projects marketing is leading and supporting to monitor workflow, resourcing and delivery.
  • Demonstrates positive energy to effectively represent our brand internally and externally. Monitors brand compliance through all touchpoints to ensure consistency. Supports the Chief Marketing Officer, who is our brand’s lead storyteller, creating strategic narratives that convey the essence of our brand’s identity and purpose through all mediums from digital to traditional.
  • Support and maintain brand foundations.
  • Guide, coach and ensure all marketing materials are engaging and designed to deliver desired outcomes given the media and placement.
  • Ensure consistency and integrity of the Greater Austin YMCA brand by conducting regular audits and maintaining strict adherence to brand guidelines.
  • Lead the creation, execution, and optimization of innovative digital and traditional marketing campaigns that align with organizational objectives for revenue generation.
  • Leverage digital trends, tools and technology to build winning marketing plans that resonates with target audiences.
  • Demonstrate a test and learn mindset to learn fast with tangible data to give confidence to scaling further.
  • Develop new ways of engaging consumers to gain more attention in-center, near our centers and digitally in market to attract more prospects and serve more of our community.
  • Plan, execute and support Portfolio Management optimization efforts and innovation pathways.
  • Provide regular coaching and support the development of team members.
  • Identify and lead process improvements and capability needs at the project or brand team level.
  • Participate in Association events and contribute marketing expertise to organizational projects and special initiatives as assigned by the Chief Marketing Officer.
  • Cultivate and lead a high-performing, collaborative marketing team that fosters a culture of creativity, innovation, and accountability.
  • Provide work direction, performance management and project oversight.
  • Responsible for delivery of OKRs which align the marketing team’s efforts with the broader organizational objectives.
  • Demonstrate and model cross-functional collaboration, ensuring that marketing and cross-functional teams are aligned on shared outcomes, managing risks and keeping the consumer at the center.
  • Represent the YMCA at key community events and networking opportunities, building lasting relationships that deepen our presence and impact in the community.
  • Lead innovative community outreach initiatives, such as events and strategic partnerships, to strengthen the YMCA’s connection with members and the broader community.
  • Take on additional duties as needed to support the YMCA’s vision, purpose, and overarching goals.

What You Bring To The Y

You possess a proven track record of successful marketing results. Your can-do attitude and creative problem-solving skills make you an influential leader, continually achieving outstanding outcomes in marketing. To succeed in this role, you will need the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business development, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience marketing, with demonstrated success in driving both unit and revenue growth in competitive markets utilizing digital and traditional marketing to drive customer acquisition, lead generation, and retention.
  • High familiarity with brand development planning, innovation and creative development processes.
  • Strong experience in brand foundational tools, consumer insight identification, segmentation and target audience development.
  • Concept and brief writing of innovation, product renovation or commercial news.
  • Ability to pull insights from multiple sources and synthesize them into compelling story for change.
  • Deep skills and experience with diagnosing and resolving complex problems and opportunities.
  • Entrepreneur mindset who finds ways to break down growth barriers, pivot and perform in changing market dynamics.
  • Experienced in providing (and inspiring) marketing work direction, performance coaching and talent development. Ideally with direct reports.
