Job summary

Meritus College, a nonprofit online college, seeks a Director, Instruction and Learner Experience to own the learner-facing academic experience, including curriculum, instruction quality, and learner support. You will build teams, design policy, and partner with the Chief Academic Officer.

As the college launches, you will write policies, redesign courses, coach instructors, and establish accreditation-ready processes, while balancing hands-on work with strategic leadership in a start-up

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's in higher education administration, public policy, or a related field strongly preferred.
• 8+ years in higher education, with direct experience building or leading academic programs, not only administering them.
• Experience building in a start-up environment, including new program launch or fast-scaling organization.

Responsibilities

• Own the learner-facing academic experience, including learning outcomes, course maps, assessment design, and materials selection.
• Define and uphold teaching quality, course observations, and instructor performance.
• Oversee learner support, advising, tutoring, accessibility services, and persistence initiatives.
• Design and run assessment systems, program reviews, and accreditation readiness.
• Lead the instruction, program design, and learner services teams; collaborate with the Chief Academic Officer.
