Elastic is seeking a Director of IT Engineering to lead a small, agile team building internal tools on Elastic-native platforms. You will evaluate build-vs-buy decisions, drive architectural standards, and partner with IT, Security, and Finance to deliver high-impact solutions.

You will guide end-to-end engineering, mentor engineers, and shape how Elastic’s internal systems scale with AI-native capabilities, ensuring rigorous technical execution and measurable value.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience with leadership experience.
• Hands-on familiarity with Elasticsearch: data modeling, query design, performance.
• Proven track record delivering full-stack software from conception to production.

Responsibilities

• Lead build-vs-buy engineering decisions for internal tools.
• Build and mentor a small engineering team delivering Elastic-native platforms.
• Define architectural standards and engineering practices for IT platform work.
• Collaborate with IT, Security, Platform Engineering and Finance to align requirements.
