Job summary

Dream.Org seeks a Director of Institutional Giving to own and grow our institutional funding engine. Reporting to the VP of Growth & Partnerships, you will manage proposal strategy, funder stewardship, reporting compliance, and development operations with substantial independence in a hybrid, Bay Area or DC-based role.

You will lead high-volume grant writing and reporting, ensure deadlines, and sharpen our pipeline with Salesforce, Asana, and cross-team collaboration.

Qualifications

• At least 6 years of grant writing, grant management, and institutional/foundation relationship experience in nonprofit work.
• Demonstrated relationships in social justice philanthropy.
• Track record of securing six-figure grants as lead author or strategist.
• Experience contributing to revenue planning, forecasting, or KPI tracking with senior leadership.
• Experience developing and reviewing proposal and grant budgets in partnership with finance.
• Exceptional narrative writer with strong editing skills; may be asked to submit a writing sample.
• Experience tracking prospect management using Salesforce or similar CRM.
• Comfort presenting funding pitches and making direct asks for support.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of grant writing, reporting, and submission with minimal supervision, across an organizational portfolio of 75+ submissions.
• Provide high-quality drafts for grants, reports, and letters of intent annually.
• Develop grant work plans, manage submissions calendar and task boards in Asana, and drive staff to deadlines.
• Translate program outcomes into compelling proposals and reports.
• Ensure compliance with foundation and corporate grant reporting requirements and integrate funder deliverables into planning.
• Lead foundation relationship management and prep for external funder meetings.
• Advance five- to seven-figure institutional opportunities with senior leaders.
• Pair revenue planning with Salesforce-based tracking; create pipeline reports with data integrity.
• Supervise staff or consultants and align priorities, capacity, and risk.
