Job summary

Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP is seeking a Director of Information Governance to lead the firm’s governance strategy and programs across risk, privacy, and cybersecurity. The role partners with leadership and multiple teams to establish classification, retention, and defensible disposition practices.

The position focuses on governance frameworks for AI, data mapping, and regulatory compliance, with a strong emphasis on collaboration across Litigation Support, eDiscovery, and IT.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree preferred (JD, MLS, MBA, MS in Information Management, Library Science, Information Governance, or related field).
• Relevant certifications preferred: IGP, CRM, CIP (CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPM, or CIPT), CDIA+ and CEDS.
• 10+ years of progressive information governance, records management, or related experience; law firm or regulated services preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive information governance program aligned with strategic objectives.
• Establish policies, standards, procedures, and controls for physical and electronic information.
• Lead enterprise-wide lifecycle management, records management, retention, and defensible disposition.
• Advise leadership on trends, legal requirements, and best practices in information governance.
• Partner with GC, Risk Management, Compliance, Privacy to ensure regulatory adherence.
• Oversee governance for AI data, eDiscovery, and defensible information management.
• Manage budgets, vendor relationships, and training for governance compliance.
