Job summary

Child Development Schools is offering a Director-in-Training program designed to fast-track leadership in early childhood education. The 3-month experience includes a one-week onsite boot camp in Clayton, NC, and covers hiring, budgeting, marketing, and curriculum know-how.

You will be prepared to lead a center with commitment to safety and high-quality care. Upon successful completion, a permanent School Director role may be offered.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1–3 years of leadership in early childhood education.
• CDA, Associate’s, or Bachelor’s degree preferred in ECE.
• State certification/licensure as required by your state.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on training in hiring, team-building, budgeting, marketing, and curriculum implementation.
• Lead recruitment, training, and support staff while ensuring state compliance.
• Supervise and inspire the team, manage schedules, and handle substitutes.
• Build warm connections with families and staff to foster a strong community.
• Host tours to welcome new families and showcase the program.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and engaging learning environment.
• Handle administrative tasks (billing, payroll, records) with accuracy.
• Contribute to classroom and school-wide elements as needed.

Requirements

Who We're Looking For:

• A leader with 1--3 years of experience in early childhood education or a similar leadership role
• Someone with a CDA, Associate's, or Bachelor's degree (preferred) in Early Childhood Education or related field
• Certified or licensed as required by your state -- you know the drill!
• A communication champ with a heart for kids, families, and staff
• A multitasking master who can juggle schedules, tasks, and surprises with grace
• Flexible, hands-on, and ready to jump in wherever needed
