The American Medical Association (AMA) in Washington, DC, seeks an Attorney, Dir I (Legislative Counsel Lifestyle Medicine) for a hybrid role on our Government Affairs team. Reporting to the Director, you will provide legal counsel on legislative and regulatory matters affecting AMA, with emphasis on FDA, drugs, and lifestyle medicine, guiding advocacy staff and senior leadership.

Qualifikationen

• J.D. degree and active Bar membership in at least one state.
• 10+ years professional experience; 3+ years health law experience.
• Subject matter expertise in U.S. Congressional, legislative, and federal regulation.
• Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills.
• Some travel may be required.

Aufgaben

• Serve as internal expert; provide legal, legislative, and regulatory advice on FDA and lifestyle medicine.
• Identify emerging federal legislation and develop policy and advocacy approaches.
• Prepare AMA testimony, brief witnesses, and draft advocacy materials.
• Lead a portfolio of issues; coordinate across Advocacy and other units.
• Brief national medical societies and stakeholders on AMA policy.
• Develop talking points to support lobbying and grassroots efforts.
