Job summary

AbbVie Inc. is seeking a Director of Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR) to lead HEOR strategy and execution for one or more assets, managing cross-functional teams in a global environment.

The role includes ownership of HEOR plans, partnerships with COE functions, and ensuring HEOR input shapes product strategy and pipeline development. The position is hybrid, based in Lake County, IL, with potential for leadership of 1–2 direct reports and collaboration with senior stakeholders to

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in health economics or related discipline.
• Minimum eight years of experience with Master’s, or four years with PhD; professional health field training is a plus.
• PhD in Economics, Econometrics, or pharmacoepidemiology is preferred, with 3+ years relevant experience; fellowship is a plus.
• Clinical research experience in pharma industry is strongly recommended; experience leading complex products or clinical development.
• Typically 3+ years of clinical development experience in pharma, CRO, academia or health-related consulting with expertise in a therapeutic specialty.

Responsibilities

• Oversee design and conduct of HEOR studies and clearly communicate findings and strategic impact to stakeholders.
• Provide HEOR strategic direction aligned with product goals and cross-functional partners.
• Own end-to-end HEOR book of work from strategy to content delivery.
• Ensure strong partnership with HEOR COE functions for a unified HEOR voice in meetings.
• Engage senior leaders with executive presence in cross-functional settings.
