The pay range is $125,600.00 - $226,100.00

A role in Store Design offers the chance to apply sustainable and innovative design expertise. Your work will shape the physical experience and brand image in stores and support Target’s business strategies, including new stores, remodels, exteriors, interiors, and guest experience projects.

Position Overview: The Experience Director will lead a multidisciplinary team to create innovative designs across environmental, fixtures, interiors, and architectural projects. This role requires a visionary leader who can blend form and function to craft immersive, engaging, and brand-aligned experiences.

• Design Strategy and Innovation: Lead the development of future store design strategies, manage multiple projects, and stay updated on industry trends and consumer behavior. Collaborate with senior leaders across strategy, insights, merchandising, marketing, and operations to ensure designs meet business and customer needs.

• Project Execution: Interpret program details to integrate interior design and brand aesthetics for various projects, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery. Manage relationships with external design firms and develop design standards and training.

• Team Leadership and Development: Lead and mentor a team of graphic, fixture, interior, and industrial designers. Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and collaboration, aligning efforts with strategic goals.

About You:

• 4-year accredited degree in architecture, interior design, industrial design, or related field.

• 10-15 years relevant retail design experience.

• Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in environmental, fixtures, interiors, and architectural design.

• Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, and SketchUp.

• Deep knowledge of retail interior design, finishes, fixture design, manufacturing processes, and sustainability (preferred).

• Excellent creative, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong interpersonal skills for internal and external relationship building.

This position operates as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day, depending on Target’s needs, requiring onsite presence at the Target HQ in Minnesota and virtual work as needed. Work outside the U.S. is not permitted unless specified. Learn more about Minnesota here.
