Job summary

National Governors Association in Washington, DC, is seeking a Communications Event Advance and Logistics Director to lead NGA's marquee convenings onsite. You will oversee creative direction, program content, and cross‑functional planning with a focus on bipartisan engagement for governors, their staff, and stakeholders.

The role reports to the Chief Communications Officer, requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field, and 7+ years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in communications, political science, communications-adjacent or related field.
• 7+ years working in government, communications, public policy, or executive leadership support.
• Direct experience working with governors, senior elected or appointed leaders, or equivalent stakeholders.
• Experience developing and supporting major convenings and executive content; fundraising and sponsorship experience.

Responsibilities

• Execute the creative vision for NGA's major convenings and governor-facing programs.
• Lead major event planning: agenda, timelines, speakers, briefing materials, run-of-show documents.
• Coordinate with Events and Hospitality on design, production, registration, transportation, security, onsite execution.
• Recruit prominent speakers, moderators, and guests.
• Collaborate with Governor’s Office Engagement to support high-touch experiences for governors and families.
• Develop content and media strategies for each convening and amplify meeting content across platforms.
• Align with multiple teams to deliver cohesive, high-value experiences.
