Job summary

BNY Mellon in Boston, MA seeks a seasoned Senior Director of Financial Reporting to lead a regional team delivering timely, accurate financial statements and regulatory filings. The role requires deep GAAP knowledge, cross-functional leadership, and a proven track record in complex reporting environments.

The ideal candidate drives governance, partners with auditors and regulators, and leverages automation and AI to improve efficiency and insight across investment funds and related entities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• 15+ years of progressive leadership experience managing large teams of financial reporting professionals, preferably within finance organizations with investment funds exposure.
• Deep technical accounting knowledge across IFRS, U.S. GAAP, Lux GAAP, and related regulatory frameworks.
• Professional accounting qualification preferred (CPA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a regional Financial Reporting organization, providing strategic oversight of client relationships and ensuring service delivery across the jurisdiction.
• Develop and execute business plans, contribute to functional strategy, and establish operating frameworks and performance standards.
• Provide leadership on complex financial statement disclosures, accounting matters, and regulatory requirements including GAAP interpretation.
• Serve as senior escalation point for complex reporting, accounting, and client issues with risk discipline.
• Oversee relationships with external auditors, clients, regulators, and internal stakeholders for accurate, compliant filings.
• Establish reporting policies, governance standards, and quality controls for high-quality statements and investor reporting.
• Partner with senior client representatives and audit leadership, communicating complex accounting matters effectively.
• Lead client relationship management activities to ensure service levels and support growth initiatives including RFPs and client presentations.
• Act as trusted advisor to senior management by identifying risks, strengthening controls, and promoting governance culture.
• Drive process improvements, automation opportunities, and tech solutions to enhance reporting quality and scalability.
• Champion innovation through AI and analytics use cases that improve accuracy and reduce manual effort.
• Build and lead high-performing teams with focus on talent management and strategic objectives.
