Abbott is seeking a hands‑on technical leader to own the architecture, engineering, and reliability of its enterprise AI Platform. The role partners with product managers and engineers across AI/Agentic teams, security, and divisions, and begins as a player‑coach to grow a platform engineering team.

You will drive architecture for the AI control plane, model gateways, and runtimes, while ensuring secure, scalable, and observable systems.

Qualifications

• 10‑15+ years in software engineering, platform engineering, or distributed systems with leadership.
• Hands‑on experience designing enterprise AI/GenAI platforms in production.
• Strong Python and at least one of TypeScript, Go, or Java; APIs, distributed systems, testing, secure SDLC.

Responsabilités

• Define and evolve reference architecture for AI control plane, paved roads, SDKs, templates, and developer experience.
• Design and build a model gateway with multi-provider routing, quota, rate limiting, tenant isolation, key management, and cost allocation.
• Deliver a GenAI runtime for model serving, retrieval‑augmented generation, context/memory stores, vector search, sandboxed tool execution.
