Abbott is seeking a hands-on technical leader to architect and run the enterprise AI Platform, enabling teams to build, deploy, and operate GenAI and agentic systems safely and quickly. The role starts as player-coach with a path to lead a platform engineering team in a large healthcare technology environment.

The candidate will own the control plane design, model/agent/tool registries, and security guardrails, while partnering with AI product managers and engineering teams to deliver scalable,

Qualifications

• 10–15+ years of software engineering leadership in platform engineering.
• Hands-on experience building enterprise GenAI or AI platforms.
• Strong Python and at least one of TypeScript/Go/Java, APIs, distributed systems.

Responsabilités

• Define and evolve reference architecture for AI control plane and paved road services.
• Design model gateway with multi-provider routing and cost allocation.
• Deliver GenAI runtime for model serving and memory stores.
• Own registries for models, agents, prompts, and tools with versioning and gates.
• Build observability and traceability for prompts and tool/agent calls.
• Implement security, guardrails, and responsible‑AI controls.
• Establish platform practices using Kubernetes, IaC, CI/CD, and SRE with SLOs.
• Hire and coach a platform engineering team of 3–8 engineers.
• Partner with Product Manager to sequence platform roadmap and measure outcomes.
