Abbott is seeking a hands-on software engineering leader to build production-grade agentic systems on the enterprise AI Platform. As Director-mapped, you will coach a team of 3–8 engineers while shaping technical standards and delivery.

You will turn business requirements into reliable single- and multi-agent solutions, establish reusable patterns, and collaborate with product managers, security, and data science to ensure measurable outcomes.

Qualifications

• 10–15+ years of software engineering experience
• Hands-on experience designing, coding, testing, deploying, and operating agentic or LLM-based apps in production
• Strong understanding of agent architecture, tool calling, durable state, multi-agent coordination, context engineering, retrieval, evaluation, observability, and safety controls
• Proficiency in Python and at least one of TypeScript, Go, or Java, including APIs, distributed systems, CI/CD, testing, code review, and secure SDLC

Responsabilités

• Design, implement, and operate production agentic systems with clear boundaries and human oversight
• Build durable workflows with persistent state, checkpoints, and idempotency
• Integrate tools with enterprise systems with proper contracts, schemas and retries
• Develop context-engineering strategies including memory hierarchies and caching
• Create evaluation systems with datasets, LLM-based evaluation and CI gates
• Instrument agent apps for observability of prompts, tool calls, and costs
• Ensure production reliability: latency, concurrency, rate limits, secure deployment, and on-call
• Write/Review production code in Python and at least one of TS/Go/Java; establish secure practices
• Lead discovery and delivery with product managers and security stakeholders
• Hire and coach a team of ~3–8 engineers; establish reusable patterns
