Job summary

The Andrew Carnegie Foundation is seeking a Director of Financial Planning, Analysis and Systems in New York, NY. This role reports to the CFO and leads the budget process, financial analysis, and systems integration across the finance department.

Responsibilities include implementing new financial systems, preparing budget templates, and delivering budget-to-actual reporting. The position emphasizes collaboration with departments, strategic modeling, and onsite work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, data science or related field.
• 7 years of experience in finance-related roles with leadership and impact.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, including Power Query, Power BI and VBA.
• Knowledge of accounting, grants management, and expense reporting systems preferred.
• Demonstrated experience rolling out systems and process changes across teams and organizations.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights.
• Process oriented thinker that can develop or change redundant or ineffective workflows.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; team player.
• Work onsite.

Responsibilities

• Review and document financial operations and related processes, identify areas for development and streamline system workflows.
• Lead research and implementation of new financial systems, including training administrators and end-users.
• Lead the budget process: draft instructions, compile department data, prepare reports for President and Finance Committee.
• Prepare budget and projection upload files for the general ledger and ensure accuracy.
• Provide budget-to-actual reporting to departments and surface issues to the CFO.
• Collaborate with departments to deliver tailored financial reporting solutions.
• Prepare monthly Payroll, Benefits Allocation, and Investment Allocation entries for Controller review.
• Develop long-range financial models and scenario planning; approve budget coding for admin expenses.
