Job description

The Director of Facilities is a senior team member responsible for designing and maintaining the Company’s facilities to meet high industry standards. This includes HVAC, mechanicals, power generation, UPS systems, security systems, and environmental monitoring. The Director will source and manage contractors for maintenance, repairs, and upgrades.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Architect data center and network POP facilities.
  2. Source vendors for facilities maintenance and upgrades.
  3. Develop, document, and implement maintenance plans for all facilities and systems (DC Plant, Battery plant, HVAC, Fire Suppression, backup power, etc.).
  4. Create detailed design packages with implementation plans and procedures.
  5. Coordinate internal and external resources for plan execution.
  6. Maintain utility and vendor contact lists.
  7. Manage facilities documentation, including locations, contracts, and capabilities.
  8. Handle lease management and renewals for facilities.
  9. Coordinate real estate communications for leases and renewals.
  10. Track and approve billing related to facilities.
  11. Develop and monitor key performance indicators for facilities management.
  12. Author quality assurance testing procedures and change management requests.
  13. Act as escalation point during outages, performing root cause analysis.
  14. Research and recommend hardware and support solutions based on new technologies.
  15. Provide technical expertise during complex customer opportunities.
  16. Contribute to the organization’s reputation by taking ownership of new requests and adding value.
  17. Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS:

Thorough understanding of facility management, design, and maintenance concepts. Experience in architecting telecom and data center facilities, contractor management, and communication skills. Strong work ethic, organization, and reliability. Ability to work independently and in teams in fast-paced environments. Knowledge of inside plant construction standards (GR-1275, Blue Book, NESC) is preferred but not required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering plus at least 10 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
