Job summary

Capital One seeks a Director, Compensation - Equity Compensation to lead the global equity programs and the Equity & Special Compensation team. You will drive strategy, design elements, and governance across enterprise equity initiatives for senior leadership and external partners.

You will oversee an up to 6‑person team, manage cross‑functional programs, and ensure compliance with regulatory and governance requirements while leveraging analytics and external benchmarking.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; 7+ years in equity design/administration, executive compensation, finance or a combination.
• At least 5 years of people leadership experience.
• Experience leading cross-functional initiatives at a Fortune 100 company preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead global equity compensation programs and ensure competitiveness, legality and shareholder alignment.
• Oversee administration of long‑term incentive plans, stock purchase plans, and executive compensation initiatives.
• Partner with Corporate Compensation Design and Executive Compensation on award vehicles, eligibility, targets, vesting, terms.
• Deliver data‑driven analyses and presentations for senior leaders and Compensation Committee discussions.
• Coordinate equity programs for acquisitions, including due diligence and communication delivery.
• Develop governance with internal/external partners to ensure compliance and reporting.
• Maintain stock plan data for regulatory filings and proxy materials.
• Monitor policy and regulatory changes and recommend executive‑level responses.
• Guide equity compensation processes and system solutions across the enterprise.
• Support automation and AI-enabled improvements in compensation processes.
• Support special projects to enhance compensation capability.
