Job summary

Talen Energy is seeking a Director of Development Permitting & Environmental in Houston, TX to lead the owner’s environmental development and permitting for gas generation, battery storage, and data center opportunities. You will own screening, diligence, permit strategy, and bidder-ready projects from site evaluation through FID and execution.

Qualifications

10+ years of progressive experience in environmental permitting, consulting, energy development, or complex infrastructure.
Demonstrated success advancing utility-scale energy or industrial projects through permit acquisition and project readiness.
Experience with gas generation environmental requirements and air modeling concepts.

Responsibilities

Lead the environmental development and permitting function, including screening standards and playbooks.
Develop permitting roadmaps, engage agencies, and manage schedules, budgets, and risks.
Coordinate cross-functionally with Site Origination, Project Development, Legal, and Operations.
Oversee consultants, manage external counsel, and ensure defensible permit applications and closure.
