Job summary

Talen Energy, headquartered in Houston, Texas, seeks a Director of Engineering & Interconnection to lead the owner's-side technical capability across power generation, storage, and digital infrastructure. You will guide development-stage engineering, technology decisions, and grid interconnection strategy while coordinating with PJM, utilities, OEMs, and consultants.

Reporting to the Chief Asset Development Officer, this role drives technical strategy, risk management, and investment readiness

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related discipline.
• Experience leading development-stage work on complex capital projects.
• Experience advancing utility-scale projects from screening to FID/notice to proceed.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead the Engineering & Interconnection function with standards and reviews.
• Screen interconnection points and constraints for sites.
• Lead concept design for gas, storage, and data center projects.
• Evaluate technology tradeoffs for efficiency, emissions, and lifecycle cost.
• Prepare design bases, heat/mass balances, and preliminary specs.
• Provide inputs for permitting, estimating, contracting, and investment decisions.
• Lead procurement support for turbines, storage, transformers, and substations.
• Manage consultants and ensure quality, budget, and schedule.
