Job summary

Tallgrass Energy, based in Houston, seeks an Environmental Permitting Manager to lead permitting for capital projects. The role reports to the Director of Environmental Permitting and requires coordinating internal teams and external consultants across FERC, USACE, SHPO and other agencies.

Ideal candidates have strong communication, multi‑disciplinary teamwork, and travel up to 50% to project sites. Experience with oil, gas, or electric transmission permitting is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or related fields preferred.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in environmental permitting and compliance with increasing responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate environmental permitting for design and construction of facilities, pipelines, terminals and infrastructure.
• Manage internal resources and consultants for permitting per FERC, BLM, USACE, USFWS, SHPO and other regs.
• Formulate and execute complex permitting strategies while keeping stakeholders aligned on goals, schedule and budget.
• Communicate permitting details to project teams and adapt to constructability needs.
• Collaborate with Commercial and Government Affairs to address permitting needs and obstacles.
• Engage with regulatory officials to relay project specifics and updates.
