Job summary

Virginia Farm Bureau is seeking a Director of Enterprise Architecture to lead the design, governance, and evolution of the organization's technology ecosystem from Richmond, VA. You will align architecture with business strategy, regulatory requirements, and long-term sustainability to prevent fragmentation across applications, data, and infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree or equivalent practical experience in IT/CS/Eng.
• 10 years of progressive experience in enterprise or senior technical leadership roles.
• Experience defining enterprise-wide architecture standards and guiding platform modernization.
• Strong understanding of SaaS ecosystems, data architectures, integration, identity, and security.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain enterprise architecture principles, standards, and reference patterns across domains.
• Evolve target state architecture to support business strategy, modernization, and resilience.
• Evaluate technologies for architectural fit, scalability, and sustainability before adoption.
• Lead platform rationalization to reduce tool sprawl and improve coherence.
• Act as trusted advisor to executives on strategy, tradeoffs, and investments.
• Provide architectural input to enterprise initiatives and program planning.
• Ensure architecture decisions balance near-term needs with long-term flexibility and risk reduction.
• Define integration patterns, APIs, and data flows across SaaS and on-prem systems.
• Partner with data governance, engineering, and cybersecurity to ensure regulatory alignment.
