Job summary

Quinnipiac University is seeking an innovative Director of AI Strategy and Excellence to define and advance the enterprise AI roadmap and governance framework. Reporting to the CIO, the role shapes ethical, secure, and impactful AI use across teaching, research, and services.

The successful candidate will partner with academic leadership and IT to align AI initiatives with university priorities, drive adoption, and foster innovation while ensuring responsible and strategic implementation.

Qualifications

• The candidate should have at least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in AI, technology strategy, digital transformation, data and analytics, or related fields.
• Proven ability to design and execute organization-wide strategies and governance frameworks.
• Expertise in AI governance, ethics, and enterprise systems integration.
• Strong analytical and strategic planning capabilities.
• Experience evaluating emerging AI technologies and translating their capabilities, risks, and opportunities into actionable strategies.
• Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and steward a unified AI strategy that aligns with the University’s mission and digital transformation goals.
• Define standards of excellence for AI use, including ethical frameworks, governance structures, and performance metrics.
• Partner with leadership across administrative and academic divisions to promote AI adoption that enhances institutional effectiveness.
• Serve as a thought partner to University leaders guiding strategic use of AI to improve services and workflows.
• Cultivate institutional and external partnerships to advance AI best practices.
• Promote readiness by collaborating with IT to ensure infrastructure and data integration support responsible AI use.
• Lead communication and engagement to build awareness in enterprise AI initiatives across the campus.
• Benchmark AI maturity and recommend strategic investments to accelerate responsible innovation.
